My daughter was recently diagnosed with wheat and dairy allergies so I bought this cookbook after reading so many excellent reviews and I am so disappointed by it. The recipes are all very long and elaborate. These are not everyday recipes for a busy family on a school night with lots of extra curricular activities. Most of the recipes have lots of ingredients, many of which are not easy to find and very expensive.But my biggest issue with this cookbook is that it isn't exactly a dairy free cookbook. First of all, she uses ghee in many recipes. Although she has a chart of ingredient replacements in the front, the whole purpose of getting a dairy free cookbook was to find recipes that I didn't have to figure out ingredient replacements for a recipe. And I actually found it kind of obnoxious when, on the recipe for cheese crackers, she writes, "Because this book is dairy-free, I went rogue with this recipe and included real Cheddar and Parmesan for that truly cheesy flavor." The point of a dairy free cookbook is to find fun and tasty recipes for my children that don't include foods that have dairy in it, and "going rogue" is not helpful or useful. It should be made clear that recipes include dairy and you need to figure out substitutions.We will try many of these recipes and I'm sure they will be tasty, but not at all what I was hoping for.
As a busy mom this book is, quite frankly, saving my life while making me feel like an all star chef in the kitchen. The easy sheet pan dinners and Instant Pot entrees allow week night dinners to come together like a breeze while I confidently know I am feeding my family nourishing and delicious food. Danielle Walker could have a recipe for dirt and I’d love it, but my husband and 14-month old toddler have much more discerning tastes. The recipes I have cooked so far have been met with such rave reviews from my picky audience that I am deeming this my favorite cookbook to date from Danielle Walker. Our favorites have included Millionaire’s Bacon, Teriyaki Salmon, Butter Chicken, and the Mint Slims—which I’ve embarrassingly already made twice in a two week time frame. They are SO GOOD! While I received a complimentary copy of this cookbook early, I have still preordered several to give as Christmas presents. I know this will be a go to for years to come. I strongly recommend you order this book now!On a side note, I used to think buying cookbooks was silly since there are so many free recipes available online. However, after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and converting my eating style to grain free and dairy free, cooking has become much more complicated. It’s so much easier having all your favorite recipes compiled in one place and not having to search for them online each time. Also, Danielle Walker’s cookbooks are GORGEOUS! There are mouth watering photographs of EACH recipe—it’s truly a joy to thumb through. I highly, highly recommend this cookbook!
This cookbook was a miss for me so far other than the snickerdoodles. I have been following danielle for a long time and love all her other books. Some of recipes are very similar to her other cookbooks. Poor proofreading as mistakes in cooking directions mentioning items not on recipe list. Some of recipe pages don't flow well from previous page when longer recipes, confusing. I did appreciate some nut free options and substitution chart is helpful with tree nut allergy. Illustrations are beautiful and I like the ribbon divider to keep your place. I think chapter six is mislabeled says quick and easy and I have made several recipes in this chapter and there is nothing quick or easy going on there. I was disappointed and will not preorder her books anymore. Will wait till they hit stores and look through first
The pictures are gorgeous and it all "sounds great" but I found this to be very misleading. It appears to have instant pot recipes...I found two that were not even full meals. There are only a handful of sheet pan recipes and it's nothing my kids would eat. If you are a gourmet chef or you like buying ingredients for things you'll never use again, this cookbook may be for you. If you are a mom that is looking for easy healthy recipes that your whole family will enjoy...this is NOT for you. I cook pretty good but I do not want to make homemade poptarts or girl scout cookies...everything else calls for odd ingredients from chicken livers, to arrow root powder to blanched almond flour...these are items that I would NOT stock in my kitchen because I do not use them on a regular.

The recipes do use cashew flour and garbanzo bean flour at times and that wasn't something I stocked in my pantry, so a special trip to the store was needed, so always check your recipe ahead of time to make sure you aren't missing some of the more speciality ingredients and you will be golden!
I bought this for a gift but I am not going to give it as planned. Recipes are long, ingredients are not easily accessible.
Danielle Walker was literally the person who made me step into the realm of paleo and never look back! I have many health issues and all of her cookbooks have endless recipes that make you miss NOTHING while becoming paleo. This book is her best one yet! I literally want to make EVERY SINGLE RECIPE! Amazing! Number one cookbook I would recommend to anyone!
